Why can't people in the West see that the war in Ukraine is clearly being waged against Russia with Ukraine being the proxy?

For decades, Putin was accusing Ukraine in being a proxy of the U.S.
He probably doesn’t even realize how pathetic he looks: in the 4th year of his 'special military operation,' the commander-in-chief of the 'second army in the world' and the 'top nuclear power,' is running to his arch enemy #1 — America, demanding to convince the Ukrainians to surrender.
Putin is a pathetic loser.
Can I fix a fridge leak myself, or should I call a pro?
And when this fails, he’s whining and complaining that the UN must intervene — because Ukraine still refuses to surrender.
Putin just shocked Russians with a suggestion that Ukraine should be placed under external management by the U.N.
Russian propaganda has been pushing the myth of Ukraine’s external control literally for decades.
Because he’s powerless — big, giant, “mighty” Russia is powerless against a small but unbreakable and proud Ukraine.
Now, Putin demands that Ukraine is put under external control!
And now, this bombshell: “The U.N. must introduce external management over Ukraine,” demanded Putin.
When the full-scale war in Ukraine started in 2022, Russians were calling it a “proxy war” and saying that they are fighting America on the territory of Ukraine.
